The Department of Statistics at the University of Virginia invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor, General Faculty. This teaching non-tenure track position
has three-year renewable contracts and, with successful reviews based primarily on teaching and service, the opportunity for promotion to Associate and Full Professor. The successful candidate will teach three courses per term, typically with only one or two distinct course preparations. Other duties include student advising, curriculum development, and other departmental and university service. Professional activity that enhances teaching is strongly encouraged. The salary is market-competitive, and voluntary summer teaching for additional compensation is usually available.
The area of specialization is open, but the Department is experiencing increased student demand in both statistics and computing, so we particularly welcome those whose teaching experience spans statistics, computing, and computational sciences. The appointment begins with fall term of 2018 (anticipated start date July 25, 2018).
