Selecting a Major/Minor

Major Degree Programs

The Statistics department offers two major degree programs. Both degrees provide you with employable and valuable skills; the BS may be especially useful for those who wish to pursue a PhD degree in Statistics or a similar field. The table below shows some of the key similarities and differences between the two degree programs.

Minor Programs

The Statistics department offers two minor programs. Both minors provide you with valuable skills. The table below shows some of the key similarities and differences between the two minor programs. 

EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 6, 2023: Our minors (Statistics and Data Analytics) currently require an application to declare, and no minor declarations will be processed during advising hours at this time. Details regarding the application are available on the minor application information page.

Note: A course used toward minor requirements CANNOT also be used toward any major requirements. This restriction applies to core courses and electives, but not to declaration prerequisites unless the declaration prerequisite is also a core course or elective.
